A preview of March Madness

Every Spring, it seems everyone I know follows the NCAA March Madness basketball tournaments. The games start soon.

I've written an article about how to "predict" your March Madness bracket (PDF) using a shell script. That should go live at Linux Journal within a few days, and I'll post another version of that article here a week or so after that. [Edit: My article is now on Linux Journal, as Bash Shell Script: Building Your March Madness Bracket. -jh]

But I wanted to share a preview of the article, by way of me running that script:
$ ./basketball.sh

  1. The script doesn't complete the Final Four contests, so I'll add that here:

    My Final Four are Virginia (1, Midwest) v Indiana (5, East), and Duke (4, West) v Kansas (1, South). I've visited Indiana University when I worked in higher ed, so I favor Indiana. Duke has the Lemur Center, and I like lemurs, so I'll say Duke wins their contest and the national championship.
